Food

We love food! Especially when it’s produced locally, sustainably and ethically. We also love growing our own.

One of our most popular food projects was Happy Mondays Community Kitchen, a regular community meal, which ran monthly from 2011 until the pandemic began in 2020. The meal was a not-for-profit celebration of local vegetarian food, food producers and community. Volunteer cooks, servers and helpers served thousands of meals over that time and, by buying from local producers and retailers, circulated well over £12,000 back into the local economy.  We even had a cook book!

In late 2021, Sustainable Bungay supported ‘Imagining the Waveney Valley’, an event that brought together farmers, producers, community food growers, environmentalists and consumers.

We also love cakes! For many years, we held coffee mornings in Bungay Library Courtyard garden. Sustainable Bungay volunteers have been developing and maintaining the garden over the last decade, and coffee mornings helped us to fundraise for it. We’ve also had apple pressing days and abundance projects.
